Our Journey
In the Fall of 2005, Aaron enrolled in a business class at a community college, where his vision to open an independent shop as a dealership alternative was recognized by a local business owner who became his silent partner. Together, they purchased Aaron’s boss’s shop and rebranded it as Midtown Auto Repair Services, marking the start of a new era in auto repair for Kodiak, which led to the creation and building of their new facility in 2011.
From Humble Beginnings to Modern Excellence
Midtown Auto Repair Services was founded in January 2006 by Aaron Walton, a local resident deeply connected to Kodiak, Alaska, and a silent partner. Aaron spent the previous 10 years working for a Ford dealership on and off the island and had always felt led to open his own shop.
After serving in Iraq with the U.S. Military, Aaron took a job as a mechanic at a small auto repair shop in Kodiak, where his passion for the automotive industry grew, leading him to envision a business rooted in integrity and professionalism.
Growing with the Community
From a small shop to the largest and most advanced auto repair facility in Kodiak, Midtown Auto Repair Services has grown significantly. Today, the shop boasts eight bays and employs six highly skilled technicians. Aaron’s dedication to continuous improvement and his commitment to be a true and steady anchor to the community have been instrumental in his growth.
Aaron is a graduate of Kodiak High School and a proud supporter of all of the school’s athletic programs. He’s also a member of the Kodiak Chamber of Commerce, and the shop is a multi-time reader’s choice award winner from the Kodiak Daily Mirror.
